God Is an Astronaut

God Is an Astronaut are an instrumental three piece hailing from the Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Joining the slightly bizarre world of post-rock, God Is An Astronaut seem totally at ease with the genre's ever changing climate, one which more often than not, descends into pretentious bollocks for the sake of 'experimentation'. God Is An Astronaut are, put bluntly, a breath of fresh air. Words can't describe the feeling of listening to their music for the first time, and breathing a massive sigh of relief after it occurred to me that yes, they actually know what a melody is, and haven't disappeared up their own backsides.
They formed in 2002 and released their debut album The End of the Beginning (2002) on their own Revive Records label.
All Is Violent, All Is Bright (2005) is the band’s second album. The album features their build ups from serene ambience to searing intensity and is a closer representation of their live sound.
God Is an Astronaut released an EP called A Moment of Stillness in 2006.
Their third album, Far from Refuge, was released in April 2007 on Revive Records and as a download via their website at http://www.superadmusic.com/god/.
